Is Lexington doing enough to protect its tree canopy?

This video shared by the Lexington Climate Action Network outlines concerns for tree canopy loss. What are your reactions – are there approaches we should be pursuing to better protect our trees?

This year’s Town Meeting will be considering one way of strengthening our protections – changing the period of time before a major construction project during which trees in setback areas are protected. The proposal is to increase this time from 1 year to 3 years. What are your thoughts? For information on Article 28 Amend General Bylaws – Tree Bylaw – Increase Protected Tree Look-Back Period see the material on the Town’s web site: https://lexingtonma.gov/1557/2023-Annual-Town-Meeting
