See something, say something.
Last week two residents came to my office hours and asked if I had time for a brief field trip to the Center crosswalks. It turns out that over the years the audible signals at the crosswalks have deteriorated – on the North side (CVS side) the audible signals had been swapped out at some point. On the South side the volume was way down on the West corner and almost completely missing on the East corner.
The residents handed me a blindfold and asked me to experience crossing the street like someone who had to rely on these signals to cross safely. Fortunately, they also offered me an arm so that I’d be escorted. Even though I cross here on a regular basis, I had not noticed that the audible signals had deteriorated to the point of being almost useless.
As of Friday evening, new signals have been installed and they now work properly.
